Company History
Dr. Walter Woolf began his private practice in 1961 after earning his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania. He founded Woolf Animal Hospital in Tampa, Florida, conveniently located near Tampa International Airport. There, he provided routine care for a wide range of animals, including dogs, cats, birds, household pets, and even some farm animals.
His proximity to the airport soon led airline carriers to seek his expertise on how to best meet the needs of traveling animals. Dr. Woolf's relationship with airlines grew, and he began to care for and board pets traveling through Tampa without their owners. Recognizing the increasing demand for a specialized service focused on the complex logistics of pet relocation, Dr. Woolf founded Air Animal Pet Movers in 1977 alongside his veterinary practice. As a pioneer in the pet relocation industry, Dr. Woolf ensures that Air Animal provides safe and seamless relocation experiences for pets and their families. Today, Air Animal's expert team of move managers coordinate relocations for dogs, cats, birds, fish, and even the occasional horse to destinations around the globe.
