Move Your Pet to Malaysia
Pet entry into Malaysia is controlled by an import permit issued through the Ministry, along with:
- Microchip identification
- Proof of Rabies and other immunizations at least 30 days before but not more than one year before entry into Malaysia
- An international health certificate issued within 10 days of entry, with USDA export endorsement, is required for pets originating from the USA and entering either Kuala Lumpur or Penang
- At least a seven-day quarantine after entry
After you move:
Please register with a local veterinarian to keep your pet's rabies vaccination up to date. Veterinarians typically send reminder notices when vaccinations are due.
Also consider having your U.S. veterinarian run a complete blood count, a differential and chem panel on your dog or cat before moving. Take the report with you to share with your new veterinarian. If another move is in your future, you and your pet will be ready.
